This whole NaNoWriMo thing may work well for me. While it's true that I always have trouble getting stuff done or completing writing projects, it's mainly because I have too many things I want to do & can't settle on one. When I'm trying to write a novel, I get distracted by a short story, or a poem, or hunger... And today, when I've been trying to finish up some other short writing projects, clean the kitchen, etc., I haven't managed to do any of it because my mind keeps flitting back & forth between all of them. But in November, I'll know exactly what I'm supposed to focus on. Every time I want to write, I'll know which thing to write. And there won't be enough time to get too distracted by other things...I'll know that some things will just have to wait until I get my words done for the day. I won't think, "which is more important right now, doing some writing or sorting through these magazines?" I'll know the writing is always the priority that month when my other choices are non-essential things. Or so I hope!
