It's really bizarre trying to brainstorm about my novel without being able to write a single word of it! I know I'm going to have to write several versions of the first scene, or at least of the first few paragraphs, before I get a starting point I'm happy with, and I can't get to the second scene or second chapter without knowing where I want to start. So it looks like I'm going to have to do all that experimenting on November 1st, which means "wasting" some of my words that day. I wish I could go ahead & write several practice scenes now so I could hit the ground running on Nov. 1, but I'm trying to play by the rules! Ugh. I did at least write some more notes about my characters & plot last night, & more today.
I just remembered I'm going to a writing conference this Saturday. I'm starting to get nervous about it. I'll be getting a first page critique from an editor from Harcourt on my other novel in progress, and I'm worried it'll be painful. I also worry I sent the wrong thing. I don't really feel the need for more feedback on that one right now, and the whole novel is stalled anyway! I really hope NaNo helps me get through my novel writing blocks!
