Is this too incredibly dorky? The title Chasing Monday had just come to me one time, but I had no idea what it could mean or how I could use it for this novel--or Chasing Moondog or just Moondog or whatever (see previous post). The novel is basically about my main character trying to figure out who she is, where she fits in, etc., as her family shifts around & she already feels like a social misfit. At one point, she may go on a road trip looking for people she can connect with--one of whom is someone she knew when she was a little girl. This person kind of helps her remember that she used to be more open, more hopeful, etc., and that she can possibly regain some of that without having to sacrifice the person she has become. So I was thinking, maybe when she was little, she called herself "Moondog" after someone called her that by mistake, and now she's sort of "chasing Moondog" by trying to find her true self again...the person she used to be. But is that just TOO TRITE? Hmm.... I don't want to be a slave to some title that just came to me, though! And I hate to give up the idea of her as "lonewolf" or her family as the "wolf pack," either. But I can't stuff too many things in there. Oh, wait, idea # 5525! Maybe her mother's name was Montag & her father's was Wolfley, and when she was little she came up with a way to connect them--"moon dog." Hmm, none of this seems exactly right, but that subconscious mind of mine might just get me to a decent idea yet.
