I am a happy, happy camper right now. I just finished my short story, "Ending Some of It," which I started about TEN years ago! And I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I was having a lot of trouble with this one place that needed a transition, and I was also worried about having two references to annoying birds, and I finally realized I could add a third bird reference as a transition, and it gave the story a nice little bird motif that actually helped flesh out the theme. Wow! And I also finished my children's short story, finally nailing down the opening passage that was giving me major fits. I think the whole thing flows well now. Hooray! I'm going to mail them both out tomorrow (or rather, later today, as it's 1:30 am now...), and then I'll have that much more space clear in my brain for NaNo! (Now if only I could get the house clean...but that is a bigger proposition than even finishing a ten-year-old story, I'm afraid!)
